The highest distinction awarded by the Society is the Medal named after prof. Ludwik Zabrocki.
The method of awarding the Medal is as follows:
a. The medal is awarded as an expression of special distinction and recognition for outstanding organizational and promotional achievements, corresponding to the objectives set out in the Society’s Statute.
b. The medal has the shape of a rectangle with rounded contours, dimensions 85 mm x 60 mm. It is made of bronze. It shows on the obverse the likeness of Professor Ludwik Zabrocki with the inscription: PROF. LUDWIK ZABROCKI 24·11·1907-8·10·1977. On the reverse there is an inscription “Polish Modern Philological Society, Main Board in PoznaÅ„”.
c. The medal is awarded by the Medal Chapter in accordance with the provisions contained in these Regulations.
d. The Medal Chapter is appointed by the Management Board of the Society in an ordinary vote, at the request of the Chairman of the Society. The seat of the Chapter is the premises of the Society’s Management Board.
e.The Chapter is appointed from among the Medal Winners as well as honorary members of the Society. It is composed ex officio of the current Chairman of the Society’s Management Board.
f. The chapter consists of 7 people. They elect the Dean and Secretary from among themselves.
g. The Chapter may award no more than 3 medals during the term of office of a given Management Board.
h. The medal is awarded to individuals, associations and public institutions for outstanding contributions. In particular, all forms of activity referred to in § 7 of the Society’s Statute, specifying the Society’s objectives, as well as other forms indirectly related to them and serving to promote the Society and integrate the modern language environment may be distinguished.
i. PTN membership is not a necessary condition for being awarded the Medal.
j. Applications for the Medal may be submitted by both the Chapter, the Main Board, District and Club Boards, as well as honorary and ordinary members of the PTN. An application for the Medal cannot be submitted by a person directly interested.
